Reading & Language Arts

In reading/language arts, we have been doing many different things. One thing is that we have just finished The book Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis. We are also in the process of reading the book Number The Stars, by Lois Lowry. For every chapter, we have comperehension questions to answer. In addition to that, we are doing our poetry unit in writing. We are learning many different types of poems, and are preparing for the poetry slam. We are beginning to work on point of view. We have been reading variations of The Three Little Pigs, from different points of view.

Math

We have finished the geometry unit. We are going to start the unit 7: division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. This will be our last math unit for the year. In the unit we will focus on the division strategies and multiplication algorithm. We have just finished our geometry  checkpoint and test.

Science

Right now in science we are doing an element project. The atom model is due May 9th. The model needs to be completed at home. And the research is due May 6th. We also learned that protons, electrons, and neutrons make up atoms. We listened to a song about it. It was awesome!

Social Studies

This week in social studies, we have finished our ‘fact files’. They files where we put in information  into these files. We just finished them and we turned them in. We learned about WWII. We learned that it was the bloodiest wars in human history, one of the reasons is because the US decides to bomb Japan with 2 nuclear bombs, so about 40 or 50 million people died in the war.
